Transponder

TransponderDescription:

A transponder is a transmitting unit with a defined frequency range. It is used for (mainly wireless) communication, displaying or controlling tasks. It receives incoming signals and responds automatically to them. There are so called passive and active transponders. Passive transponders work without an own energy supply. Active transponders have a way larger scope an can integrate complex sensor techniques because of an extern energy supply (batteries e.g.).

Usage:

Transponder are used for wireless identification (view also RFID).
