Description:
TFE/PDD is a thermoplastic, amorphous fluorocopolymer, which is also known under the name TEFLON®AF by DuPont. TFE/PDD is a copolymer consists of tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) and perfluorodimethyledioxole (PDD). Among all known plastics this copolymer offers the lowest dielectric constant (1,89-1,93). TFE/PDD is characterised by transparency and a small refraction index. Like the most others fluoropolymers, TFE/PDD is resistant to multiplicity of chemicals and applicable over a wide temperature range. The service temperature of the copolymer lies under 360°C. At temperatures above 360°C the thermal decomposition of the copolymer starts. TFE/PDD shows a exceptional resistance to UV-radiation and it is in a great extent permeable for UV-radiation.
Usage:
- as optical fibre
- as coverage for lenses in the microwave- radar- and optical domain
- in UV cells
- as passivation and protective envelope
- as non-reflecting coat for optical units
- as highly permeable membrane for the separation of gases
