Polyimide (PI)

Polyimide (PI)Description:

Normally inmeltable, often amber-colored and highly temperature-resistant high-performance polymer consisting mainly of aromatic molecules. Polyimides feature excellent high-temperature properties as well as an extraordinary resistance to radiation. They are consistently flame retardant and produce only little ammounts of smoke when burned. Furthermore, they feature a low creeping tendency and a good abrasion resistance.

Usage:

Polyimid-films are used for condensers, isolations, circuit boards and in the aerospace industry. In addition to that, they are applied in engine parts, bearings and other mechanical parts which are exposed to radiation.

Formula:

Polyimide (PI)
